Job summary

Stryker is seeking an engineer to independently research, design, develop and verify components for medical devices. You will translate user needs into design inputs and produce complex system-level designs with some guidance.

Prototyping, testing and issue analysis with independent judgment are required. Role involves collaboration with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing and Regulatory teams; hybrid or onsite work in Ireland, with travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Biomedical with 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience in medical devices is beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

What you will do: Technical Responsibilities
  • Independently research, design, develop, modify, and verify components, modules and sub-systems for medical devices
  • Translate user needs to design inputs/ specifications and produce complex system level designs with some guidance
  • Conduct or design advanced prototyping and testing
  • Analyze and correct complex product design issues using independent judgment
Business Responsibilities
  • Advance solutions by applying in-depth knowledge of customer needs, market and competitive offerings
  • Apply detailed knowledge of clinical procedures to author design inputs
  • Support Voice of Customer sessions internally and with clinicians
  • Demonstrate developing financial acumen
Med Device Compliance
  • Be proficient with and mentor others in usage of industry standards, including design requirements and test strategies per applicable regulations
  • Lead creation and refinement of engineering documentation, such as the Design History file
  • Follow and mentor others on R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System
General Responsibilities
  • Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success
  • Identify and support the creation of or improvements to procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology
  • Support and execute segments of complex multifunctional teams to advance projects through the design /development/launch process
  • Deliver high quality results with passion, energy and drive to meet business priorities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build partnership to achieve business objectives
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or BioMedical & 4+ years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired): Technical Skills
  • Strong technical ability to develop and optimize designs for mechanical / electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating DFM principles
  • Strong technical ability in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T and CAE tool
  • Adept at applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design
  • Ability to communicate moderate complexity plans and technical information to team members

Ireland Pay Ranges: Ireland: €54,000 - €90,000 EUR Annual At Stryker, we believe transparency helps candidates make confident decisions about their next career step. Compensation is an important part of that process and we want to be clear about how pay is determined. The compensation information posted for this role may be presented as a salary range or a fixed amount depending on the role. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for incentive compensation (such as bonus and/or commissions where applicable), along with Stryker's comprehensive benefits package.

Travel Percentage: 20%

Work Flexibility Remote - Role allows you to work the majority to 100% of time from an alternate workplace. These roles could have travel expectations, and you must work within the country of the job requisition location. Field-based - You can expect to regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities and has a set territory or expectation to travel within a set boundary. Almost all sales roles would likely be qualified as field-based. Onsite - Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility. Some ad hoc flexibility may be available depending on role, level, and job requirements. Manufacturing roles and any role that requires physical presence at the office would qualify under this category. Hybrid - You can expect to regularly work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility. Roles that are partially remote or co-located would qualify as hybrid, and the expectation to be onsite would be defined and agreed upon by your manager/supervisor.
