Staff Grade Psychologist

Medforce are seeking to recruit dynamic, compassionate, and dedicated Staff Grade Psychologists to join thePrimary Care Child Services Teamin Galway. These posts are part of aWait List Initiative, aimed at reducing waiting times for children accessing psychological support in primary care. Successful candidates will play a key role in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions to children and their families across the Galway area.

Responsibilities ofStaff Grade Psychologist

  • Provide psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions for children aged 0–18 within the primary care setting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers.
  • Deliver time-limited interventions, both individually and in groups, in line with the goals of the Wait List Initiative.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with HSE standards and professional guidelines.
  • Participate in service planning, development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with families, schools, and relevant agencies as appropriate to support children’s psychological well-being.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical pathways to address service delays and improve access to care.
  • Engage in clinical supervision and continued professional development (CPD) activities.

Requirements ofStaff Grade Psychologist

  • Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology
    Or An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
  • Relevant experience working with children and families, ideally in a primary care or child mental health setting.
  • This is afixed-term position for 12 months, linked specifically to theWait List Initiative.
  • Posts may involve travel within the Galway area; a full driving license and access to transport is desirable.
