Job description

St. Joseph's Foundation is a voluntary organisation providing services for adults with intellectual disabilities and children with complex needs. Established in 1968, the Foundation has grown by responding to the needs of people with disabilities. We are currently recruiting highly motivated Psychologists for our Children's Teams in North Cork, in our new facilities.

Overview of the Post

The successful candidate will work as part of the interdisciplinary Children's Disability Network Team, providing quality services within a Family Centred Practice model to children aged 0-18 and their families. Responsibilities include assessment, intervention, and working across various settings such as clinics, schools, homes, and community environments.

  • 1 WTE role in Fermoy (Basic Grade)
  • 0.6 WTE role in Charleville (Basic Grade)
  • 1 WTE role in Mallow (Basic Grade)

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • University degree or diploma (QQI level 8) with Psychology as a major, with 1st or 2nd class honours
  • Postgraduate qualification in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland, or an equivalent validated qualification

Experience:

  • At least five years postgraduate experience in professional psychology, with specific experience in child disability settings
  • For senior roles, at least two years post-qualification experience, including supervised clinical placements or work experience in relevant health settings
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct psychological assessments and prepare reports
  • Design and implement interventions for children with complex needs
  • Develop Family Service Plans and support families through counselling and guidance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies
  • Participate in service development and research activities
