Job summary

Primer is seeking a Staff Front-end Engineer to set the technical direction across the Account Experience teams, owning architecture, patterns, and performance. You’ll stay hands-on and mentor engineers while coordinating across multiple teams in a remote, globally distributed environment.

You should have deep TypeScript and React expertise, a track record shaping long-lived web apps, and a proven ability to influence product and design decisions with strong communication.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience operating at staff or principal level across multiple teams.
• Deep front-end engineering expertise with TypeScript and React in complex web apps.
• Fluency in state management at scale, performance, accessibility, and component-system design.
• Judgment to earn trust and guide technical direction across peers.
• Ability to reason about APIs and services and collaborate with backend engineers.
• Strong written and verbal communication for cross-functional alignment.
• Experience in payments, fintech, or platform contexts is welcome, with emphasis on engineering impact.

Responsibilities

• Set front-end technical strategy across Account Experience teams, from architecture to hands-on implementation.
• Own the architecture of a complex merchant platform and its performance characteristics.
• Shaping Primer AI Companion as a first-class merchant interface with native-feeling frontend.
• Maintain coherence across Account Setup, Monitors, Workflows, and Auditing with shared foundations.
• Lead engineers across teams through code reviews and mentorship to raise standards.
• Ensure accessibility, performance budgets, and front-end observability as core concerns.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend to shape decisions where frontend constraints matter.
