Job summary

Personio is seeking a Staff Engineer for the Documents team in London or Dublin. The role focuses on setting technical direction for document storage, generation and lifecycle, and owning the Docusign e-Signatures integration.

You will lead hard backend initiatives, ensure reliability, and collaborate across EO and beyond to scale the platform. You’ll work in a deeply technical, hands-on capacity, guiding others while delivering significant production code and architecture improvements that

Qualifications

• Experience architecting and delivering backend systems in production.
• Ability to design and own external integrations with partners.
• Ability to see how separate services fit into a coherent system.
• Bias for simple, reliable, data‑aware solutions.
• Hands-on coding while guiding others in direction.
• Experience anchoring initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, observability, and production reliability.

Responsibilities

• Set architecture and patterns for the documents platform.
• Own the e-Signatures integration with Docusign.
• Tackle complex issues in document generation, versioning, and secure access.
• Lead end-to-end backend initiatives and modernisation efforts.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and designers across EO and beyond.
• Improve deployment, monitoring, and reliability of services handling sensitive data.
• Mentor senior and lead engineers through design and delivery.
