The Sr. Associate, Sourcing and Procurement is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Category Manager, Logistics and Distribution, within BioMarin’s Global Sourcing and Procurement (GSP) organization. This position provides hands‑on support across the end‑to‑end source‑to‑pay lifecycle – sourcing events, contracting, purchase order management, supplier onboarding, and spend analytics – for the Logistics and Distribution category, including 3PL/warehousing, freight forwarding, courier, cold chain packaging, and temperature monitoring services.

The role partners with the Sr. Category Manager and stakeholders to execute day‑to‑day sourcing and procurement activities, while building the category management fundamentals, systems expertise, and business acumen needed to progress into a Category Manager role.

Scope & Responsibilities
  • Sourcing Execution:
  • Execute sourcing events (RFI/RFQ/RFP) for goods and services within the category, including preparing RFx documents, managing supplier communications, consolidating responses, and building bid comparison and scoring analyses.
  • Support lane‑based freight and courier rate requests, building rate comparisons and cost‑to‑serve analyses across modes (air, ocean, road) and regions.
  • Support the Sr. Category Manager in supplier evaluation, selection, and award recommendations, documenting outcomes in line with the Global Sourcing and Procurement Policy.
  • Manage the sourcing intake queue for lower‑complexity requests, independently leading tactical sourcing events and escalating strategic or high‑risk requests as appropriate.
  • Stakeholder Support:
  • Serve as a responsive point of contact for internal requesters across Global Supply Chain, Distribution, Quality, Trade Compliance, and Clinical Supply, guiding them through procurement processes and policy requirements.
  • Gather and clarify stakeholder requirements, scope, timelines, and budget to enable efficient sourcing and contracting.
  • Support resolution of supplier issues related to delivery, invoicing, or service performance, coordinating actions across functions and escalating as needed.
  • Contracting & Purchase Order Management:
  • Draft and route standard agreements (e.g., NDAs/CDAs, MSAs, SOWs, change orders, amendments) using approved templates, in partnership with Legal and the Sr. Category Manager.
  • Support commercial negotiations on pricing and terms for assigned spend under the guidance of the Sr. Category Manager.
  • Review purchase requisitions for policy compliance, correct commodity coding, and alignment to contract value; support PO creation, change orders, and closure.
  • Maintain contract repository records, track renewal and expiration dates, and initiate renewal activities ahead of deadlines.
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding and setup, including due diligence, risk assessments, and required documentation.
  • Track logistics supplier KPIs/SLAs (e.g., on‑time delivery, temperature excursions, damage/loss, invoice accuracy), rebates, and value realization, and prepare materials for supplier business reviews.
  • Monitor supplier risk indicators and flag concerns to the Sr. Category Manager.
  • Spend Analytics & Reporting:
  • Extract, cleanse, and analyze spend data from Ariba, SAP, and related systems to identify savings, consolidation, and compliance opportunities.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI, Excel) for spend, savings, contract coverage, and pipeline tracking.
  • Track and document hard and soft savings in alignment with GSP savings methodology and Finance requirements.
  • Support market research and benchmarking to inform category strategies.
  • Systems, Compliance & Continuous Improvement:
  • Maintain high data integrity across procurement and quality systems (Ariba, SAP, GEP Smart, Veeva, Power BI, SharePoint Lists, etc.).
  • Support trade compliance reviews of international shipments, including Incoterms, duties, and tariff validation, in partnership with Global Trade Compliance.
  • Support policy compliance, audit requests, and execution of GSP business processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that simplify procurement processes, tools, and requester experience.

  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 7/8 or equivalent) in supply chain, business, finance, engineering, life sciences, or related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or related roles.
  • Working knowledge of the source‑to‑pay process, including sourcing, contracting, purchase orders, and supplier management.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency; experience working with large data sets.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests and priorities with attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a customer‑service mindset with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional and global team environments, including collaboration with US‑based colleagues across time zones.
