Job Description
Upholstery Midlands – Dublin is looking for a highly qualified Specialist Motor Mechanic – Interior Integration & Safety Systems, focused on addressing and resolving the complex technical challenges involved in integrating mechanical, electronic, heating and safety systems during vehicle interior works such as seat replacement and refurbishment.
- Provide advanced diagnostics on vehicle systems before and after upholstery or seat refurbishment.
- Collaborate with upholstery specialists to ensure that seat replacements are mechanically secure and electronically compatible with safety systems.
- Provide technical support for seat removal and reinstallation, including the precise integration of airbag modules, seat belt mechanisms, electronic seat adjustment controls, and occupant detection systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults arising from upholstery-related disassembly/reassembly, including CANBUS communication issues, ECU errors, and sensor malfunctions.
- Perform precision alignment and torque-controlled installation of seating frames, tracks, and restraint components to manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct system calibration and safety checks after refurbishment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations.
- Advise the upholstery team on the technical implications of modifications, safeguarding the integrity of both mechanical and electronic systems.
- Integrate and troubleshoot seat wiring harnesses and power supply units, ensuring compatibility with vehicle electronic architectures during seat removal and reinstallation.
- Inspect, service, and recalibrate seat heating and climate-control modules, verifying sensor accuracy and thermal performance in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Operate and maintain specialised equipment used in seat removal, reinstallation, and upholstery integration, ensuring correct machine handling techniques.
- Provide training to staff on seat-related mechanical and machine operation skills, promoting best practices in safety and technical standards.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification as a Motor Mechanic
- More than 10 years of proven experience, specialising in vehicle interior systems, seat integration, and safety-related diagnostics.
- Strong background in advanced diagnostics (mechanical and electronic), with the ability to resolve complex and rare faults.
- Extensive experience working with airbags, SRS, seat belt pretensioners, electronic seat systems, and CANBUS networks.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining specialised equipment and machinery used in seat removal, reinstallation, and upholstery-related integration.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to manufacturer standards.
- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff on seat-related machine operation and technical procedures.
