Job summary

Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) invites applications to form a panel of Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) for vacancies that may arise in LMETB schools across County Meath. Garda Vetting will be required, and LMETB is an equal opportunities employer.

The panel will support ongoing, fixed-term and part-time SNA vacancies as they arise during the panel's lifetime. Canvassing will disqualify applicants.

Qualifications

• Must hold QQI Level 3 major qualification or equivalent.
• Junior Certificate with at least three grade D's or equivalent.
• Desirable QQI Level 5 or 6 Major Award in SNA or related discipline.
• Proven experience supporting students with additional needs.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Caring, patient and flexible approach.
• Experience in Special Classes or Special Schools is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support students with additional needs across LMETB schools in Co. Meath.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to implement SNA duties and care plans.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Participation in Garda Vetting processes as required by LMETB.

Special Needs Assistant Panel - Meath

Louth and Meath Education & Training Board (LMETB) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the formation of a panel of Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) to fill vacancies that may arise in LMETB schools across Co. Meath.

Essential Criteria

• A QQI Level 3 major qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications, or
• A minimum of three grade D's in the Junior Certificate or equivalent.

Desirable Criteria

• A QQI Level 5 or Level 6 Major Award in SNA or a related discipline.
• Proven experience supporting students with additional needs.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A caring, patient and flexible approach.
• Experience of working with students in Special Classes/Special Schools

It is intended to form a panel from which ongoing, fixed-term and part-time Special Needs Assistant vacancies that arise during the lifetime of the panel may be filled. Inclusion on the panel is subject to LMETB Garda Vetting. LMETB Garda Vetting will be sought in accordance with the National Vetting Bureau Act, 2014. This process will commence prior to appointment. Appointment to LMETB is subject to receipt of a satisfactory disclosure from the National Vetting Bureau. Please note that the Garda Vetting disclosure must be in place prior to commencement.

All SNA positions are subject to the position not being required under the National SNA Redeployment Scheme operated by the NCSE with the support of the Department of Education and Youth.
