Job summary

Mastercard is hiring a Software Engineer II in an environment focused on secure, reliable, and scalable payment systems. You will join Mastercard Launch, a graduate development program that builds skills for a future innovator in payments, with emphasis on security, design, and maintainability.

Ideal candidates are final-year students with strong CS fundamentals, proficiency in Java/JavaScript/C#/Python, and interest in cloud-native development, AI/ML in cloud, and DevOps.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on engineer who writes high-quality code with a focus on security, design, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to all phases of software development from design through rollout.
  • Owns team software including monitoring, dependencies, build, and deployments.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively in a global environment.
  • Currently enrolled in final year of bachelor's or accelerated master's program.
  • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core CS concepts.
  • Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and a good team player.
  • Ability to evaluate and apply AI-driven solutions to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and software development processes.
  • Interested in writing PLSQL queries in Oracle.

The Software Development Engineer I is a full time role within Mastercard Launch, a cohort based, graduate development program designed to build the skills you’ll leverage most as an innovator in the payments space.

Eligibility requires that you currently be a graduating senior, pursuing a relevant degree.

  • A hands‑on engineer who writes high‑quality code with a focus on security, design, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to all phases of software development from design through rollout.
  • Have strong ownership of your team’s software including monitoring, dependencies, build, and deployments.
  • Communicate, collaborate and work effectively in a global environment.
  • Currently enrolled in your final year of a bachelor’s or accelerated master’s program
  • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science concepts.
  • Proficiency in one or more general‑purpose programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and a good team player.
  • Strong analytical and excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and apply AI‑driven solutions to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and software development processes.
  • Interested in writing PLSQL queries in Oracle.
  • Knowledge of cloud‑native application development and deployment using AWS, Azure, Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, Docker, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience with AI/ML and GenAI services in cloud environments is a plus.
