Job summary

Acuity Inc. in Cork is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the Digital Centre of Excellence. You will help shape the quality strategy for cloud-native digital commerce and AI-enabled platforms, supporting Acuity’s evolving technology ecosystem.

This hands-on role focuses on automation, continuous testing, and quality enablement. You will influence engineering practices, improve delivery pipelines, and help teams build quality into every stage of the software

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong software engineering background with experience developing automated test solutions.
• Proficiency in Python or another modern programming language.
• Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with PyTest, Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
• Experience with Docker and CI/CD practices.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and quality engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for APIs, backend services, and cloud-native applications.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Define and drive quality engineering practices across multiple product teams.
• Develop automated functional, integration, regression, performance, and end-to-end test suites.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify quality risks and establish appropriate test strategies.
• Ensure quality gates are embedded within development workflows and release processes.
• Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting across distributed systems.
• Champion shift-left testing practices and foster a culture of quality engineering.
• Evaluate and introduce new testing tools, frameworks, and approaches where they provide measurable value.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
