Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited in Dublin seeks an experienced software engineer to contribute to Firecracker, an open source virtualization project used by AWS Lambda and other services. You will work on low-level software, systems programming, and on-call responsibilities, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability and security.

Collaboration with internal teams and open source contributors is essential.

• Interest, knowledge, and experience in the areas low-level software engineering and/or systems programming.
• Passionate about working in the open source community.

We are looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, curious, empathic, motivated, reliable, with a good sense of ownership, and a drive to invent. In this role, you will work on Firecracker [1], an open source virtualization technology that is purpose-built for creating and managing secure, multi-tenant container and function-based services that provide serverless operational models. Firecracker is deployed globally as part of AWS Lambda [2], Aurora D-SQL, and other AWS Services. Firecracker is also integrated by 10+ teams beyond AWS as part of their platforms [3]. Firecracker has an ambitious multi-year roadmap of tackling impactful and interesting opportunities in the quickly expanding epithemal compute space - come help us make history!

Your main goal will be to create long-term customer value. You will: work to understand our customers' needs and engineer new features to meet them; own and automate operations; contribute new ideas and methods to continuously improve quality and development efficiency; innovate in the area of ephemerals compute platforms; and be a maintainer of the Firecracker open source project. Basic Qualifications

• Experience (non-internship) in professional software development

• Experience in the areas of low-level software engineering and/or systems programming, for example with Linux, C, C++, or Rust
