Overview
The Social Care Worker supports the Person In Charge to ensure high quality care in accordance with HIQA standards and to enhance the lives of residents. You will work with all staff involved with the residents of Stewarts Care to support strong governance of Designated Centre(s).
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationships with service users based on equality and respect.
- Ensure service users receive the highest quality standards of care, education, training and development in line with organisational policies.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures, national policies and legislation, HIQA standards and any other applicable standards.
- Report regularly to the Person in Charge on the operation of the service in your location.
- Support the Person in Charge to maintain high quality care in accordance with HIQA standards and governance of Designated Centre(s).
- Act to ensure a safe and effective work and living environment.
- Meet the basic health care needs of service users.
- Supervise or support service users in carrying out activities as required.
- Encourage active participation of service users’ families and friends in social activities inside and outside the house.
- Maintain full and effective communication with families and others involved in supporting and caring for the service user.
- Develop contacts within the local community based on residents’ interests to promote community integration.
- Be a proactive advocate on behalf of the service users you support.
The Person
- CORU approved Level 7 Degree in Social Care or currently in the process of registering with CORU.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of Stewarts Care to improve the lives of our service users.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Experience of working with people with complex needs in various situations.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- High initiative and integrity.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and HIQA standards with proven ability to implement them.
- Excellent IT and report writing skills.
- Genuine interest in supporting the rights and needs of people with intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to make clear and concise reports regarding service users, verbally or in writing.
- Flexibility and willingness to develop new approaches as service users’ needs change.
- A full clean driving licence is an advantage.
