Job summary

Lotus Care Services in Athlone is expanding and invites Social Care Workers to join our team as we open a brand‑new residential centre later in 2026. We provide respite, residential and support services to people with intellectual disabilities in a friendly, local community setting.

You will support daily living skills, personal care, and independence, document care plans and incidents with care, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team while upholding HIQA standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 7 qualification in Applied Social Studies or equivalent.
• Registered (or in process) with the Social Care Workers Registration Board by CORU
• Commitment to completing the remaining modules.
• Hold a full Irish driving licence
• Prior experience in social care or healthcare
• Working knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations
• Excellent verbal and writing skills
• Garda Vetting/Police Clearance

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and encourage decision-making, independence, and personal development.
• Provide support in daily living skills, including personal hygiene, health and appearance.
• Work in a person-centred manner to meet individual care plans and goals.
• Adhere to policies and procedures, standards, regulations, and codes of practice
• Administer and document the dispensation of prescribed medication.
• Undertake key worker responsibilities, helping service owners achieve goals.
• Document and report incidents and complaints involving staff, service owners or visitors.
• Work with MDT to achieve the goals of service owners.

Lotus Care is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for Social Care Workers to join our team in Athlone, as we prepare to open a brand-new residential centre towards the end of 2026.

Currently operating a number of residential centres across the Midlands Lotus Care provides a range of respite, residential and support services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, creating homely, comfortable and supportive environments within the local community. We aim to empower people with the necessary skills to live full and satisfying lives as equal citizens of their local communities.

Since the establishment of our first residential home in 2023, Lotus Care has experienced an exciting period of growth, now employing over 200 staff. Our continued growth reflects the dedication of our teams and our commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.
