People who go beyond, by identifying root causes, evaluating optimal solutions, and recommending comprehensive solutions to prevent future issues.

What you will do:

  • Design, develop, refine and evaluate electrical components, assemblies and sub-systems for electrosurgery medical devices

  • Lead the design and implementation of high-energy electrical sub-systems for patient-connected medical devices

  • Translate user, clinical and system-level needs into electrical requirements, specifications and system-level designs

  • Apply concurrent engineering, advanced prototyping and test methods to reduce product time to market while meeting project, cost and compliance requirements

  • Mentor and train team members on technical aspects of product commercialisation, design trade-offs, technology exploration and complex product design issues

  • Contribute to voice of customer, customer-centric design, competitive strategy and market understanding in partnership with internal and external stakeholders

  • Lead or contribute to engineering documentation, Design History File content, R&D procedures and standards-based development activities

Key Skills:

  • Advanced electrical design capability across complex components and electronic subsystems within medical device systems and platforms.

  • Deep expertise in power electronic systems operating from hundreds of kHz to low MHz frequencies, including resonant/quasi-resonant topologies, custom magnetics, and design of HV DC/DC converters and power amplifiers

  • Strong understanding of RF, electromagnetics, EMC, measurement, sensing and control interfaces, including work in high dv/dt and high common-mode noise environments

  • Ability to guide testing, troubleshooting, PCB/cable design, electrical stackups, statistical methods and manufacturing/test methods

  • Knowledge of applicable medical device standards, risk management, insulation diagrams, essential performance, MOOP/MOPP, PEMS/PESS and standards-based testing

  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent tools, dynamic modelling, control algorithms, PID controllers and other control topologies

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and 6+ years' relevant experience

  • Direct, hands-on experience designing custom magnetics, including high-frequency isolation transformers

  • Experience providing technical guidance to electrical engineers and influencing cross-functional technical teams
