Responsibilities

  • Setting out using levelling, Total-station, and GPS.
  • Monitoring works for compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Managing quality assurance procedures.
  • Reporting on construction and maintenance issues.
  • Liaising with public bodies, authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Managing subcontractors and disseminating technical information.
  • Interpreting design plans and technical drawings.
  • Assisting with procurement and maintaining project documentation.
  • Ensuring health, safety, and environmental policies are followed.

Job description

Our client, a governmental organisation, requires Site Engineers and Site Technicians for drainage and flood risk management projects in the Sligo Region of Ireland.

The Site Engineer will predominantly work out of the site office. Working hours are from 07:30 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, with occasional hours outside this schedule as needed.

Requirements for the Site Engineer include:

  • Level 7 (NFQ or equivalent) degree in Civil Engineering
  • At least 3 years’ experience with a main contractor on civil engineering projects
  • Current SafePass Card, valid driving licence, own transport
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and IT skills
  • Right to work in the EU

The role involves managing a direct labour workforce of up to 20 personnel and subcontractors. Key duties include:

  • Organisation, supervision, and management of construction activities
  • Preparation of method statements and risk assessments
  • Setting out using levelling, Total-station, and GPS
  • Monitoring works for compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Managing quality assurance procedures
  • Reporting on construction and maintenance issues
  • Liaising with public bodies, authorities, and stakeholders
  • Managing subcontractors and disseminating technical information
  • Interpreting design plans and technical drawings
  • Assisting with procurement and maintaining project documentation
  • Utilising CAD and other software tools
  • Ensuring health, safety, and environmental policies are followed

Standard Civil Service travel and subsistence rates will apply when necessary and authorized.
