Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Site Engineer for on-site roles in Ireland. You will set out works, review drawings, coordinate with subcontractors, manage site traffic and maintain site records. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and collaboration on large-scale projects.

Requirements include a third-level Engineering degree, proven setting-out experience, and strong communication. A main contractor background and proficient use of MS Office/Project are advantageous.

Making Possible

• Set out the works and ensure that foremen and operatives clearly understand the informationprovided.


• Review information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives,subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required.


• Test materials as directed by your supervisor/line manager in accordance with the relevantspecifications.


• Quality reviews on site with regard to rebar and concrete placement.


• Review of technical submissions prior to upload to design team to ensure that the correct areas of work are addressed.


• Directing subcontractors in some instances with regard to works to be carried out.


• Preparation of technical method statements.


• Traffic management on site, being able to coordinate works within a busy location.


• Record all daily activities, relevant information and occurrences in your site diary.


• Pursue,proactivelyyour own development and training. (i.e. complete the work-based development programme in a timely manner).


• Conduct your work in a safe manner – correct and report those who do not.


• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with all personnel.


• Monitor and check setting out instruments and testing equipment.


• Maximise profit through your day-to-day actions: good self-management, accuracy in own work, elimination of re-work.

What do you bring to the role?

• A third level qualification in Engineering


• Proven experience in setting out or working as a Site Engineer in previous roles.


• Experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, surveying firm or similar preferred


• Experience managing traffic for a large scale site in a high traffic area


• Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations


• Excellent communication skills


• Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Project, PowerPoint etc.
