Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Site Engineer for Waterford to lead setting out and supervision on complex civil and infrastructure projects. You will coordinate foremen, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs, and safety requirements.

The role requires an Engineering degree, proven site experience, and strong communication. You will work in a busy site environment with a focus on safe, efficient execution and collaboration with the project team.

Qualifications

• A third level qualification in Engineering.
• Proven experience as Site Engineer or setting out on large construction sites.
• Experience with main contractors or similar.
• Experience managing traffic on large sites.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set out works and ensure foremen/operatives understand information.
• Review information from drawings/specifications to foremen and subcontractors.
• Test materials as directed relative to specifications.
• Conduct quality reviews on site for rebar and concrete placement.
• Direct subcontractors where appropriate on site.
• Prepare technical method statements for works.

Making Possible

• Set out the works and ensure that foremen and operatives clearly understand the informationprovided.
• Review information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives,subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required.
• Test materials as directed by your supervisor/line manager in accordance with the relevantspecifications.
• Quality reviews on site with regard to rebar and concrete placement.
• Review of technical submissions prior to upload to design team to ensure that the correct areas of work are addressed.
• Directing subcontractors in some instances with regard to works to be carried out.
• Preparation of technical method statements.
• Traffic management on site, being able to coordinate works within a busy location.
• Record all daily activities, relevant information and occurrences in your site diary.
• Pursue,proactivelyyour own development and training. (i.e. complete the work-based development programme in a timely manner).
• Conduct your work in a safe manner – correct and report those who do not.
• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with all personnel.
• Monitor and check setting out instruments and testing equipment.
• Maximise profit through your day-to-day actions: good self-management, accuracy in own work, elimination of re-work.

What do you bring to the role?

• A third level qualification in Engineering
• Proven experience in setting out or working as a Site Engineer in previous roles.
• Experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, surveying firm or similar preferred
• Experience managing traffic for a large scale site in a high traffic area
• Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
• Excellent communication skills
• Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Project, PowerPoint etc.
