Job summary

BAM is seeking a Site Engineer to join our Ireland operations on major construction and civil engineering projects. You will set out works, review drawings, and coordinate with foremen, subcontractors and design teams to ensure works meet specifications.

The role requires a third level Engineering qualification, proven setting-out experience, traffic management capability, and strong health, safety awareness. We offer long-term career paths, competitive salaries and a range of benefits.

Qualifications

• A third level qualification in Engineering.
• Proven experience in setting out or working as a Site Engineer.
• Experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, surveying firm or similar.
• Experience managing traffic for a large scale site in a high traffic area.

Responsibilities

• Set out works and ensure foremen and operatives clearly understand information provided.
• Review information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives, subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required.
• Test materials as directed by your supervisor/line manager in accordance with the relevant specifications.
• Quality reviews on site with regard to rebar and concrete placement.
• Directing subcontractors in some instances with regard to works to be carried out.
• Preparation of technical method statements.
• Traffic management on site, coordinating works within a busy location.
• Record all daily activities, relevant information and occurrences in your site diary.

• Monitor and check setting out instruments and testing equipment.
• Maximise profit through your day-to-day actions: good self-management, accuracy in own work, elimination of re-work.

What do you bring to the role?

• A third level qualification in Engineering
• Proven experience in setting out or working as a Site Engineer in previous roles.
• Experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, surveying firm or similar preferred
• Experience managing traffic for a large scale site in a high traffic area
• Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
• Excellent communication skills
• Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Project, PowerPoint etc.
