Job summary

Cubic³ is seeking a SIM Engineer Level I in Ireland to join a dynamic SIM Engineering team, focusing on SIM/eSIM provisioning technology. You will contribute to advanced connectivity solutions and support global customers with the latest eSIM developments.

The role involves designing and validating SIM/eSIM profiles, developing Java Card applets, and collaborating across mobile core networks, security, and device vendors. Onsite probation with hybrid possibilities post-probation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline.
• 3+ years of telecoms/ connectivity experience.
• Hands-on with SIM/eSIM technologies and protocols (APDU, ISO 7816).
• Knowledge of 3GPP, ETSI and GSMA standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, validate, and maintain electrical and logical profiles for SIM and eSIM products.
• Develop and implement Java Card applets for SIM/eSIM services, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Create and update technical documentation (applets specs, test plans).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across mobile core networks, security, and device vendors.
• Support development, testing and integration of SIM-based applications and tools.
• Utilize smart card test and trace tools to ensure quality and performance.
• Participate in technical reviews and troubleshooting.

The Role

We are looking for a SIM Engineer Level I with hands-on experience in SIM and eSIM technologies. You will join a dynamic SIM Engineering team and play a key role in delivering Cubic³ solutions within the evolving SIM/eSIM Remote SIM Provisioning technology domain.

The SIM Engineer Level I will contribute to building advanced connectivity solutions, managing SIM/eSIM card logistics and fulfilment, and providing technical support to our global customers. You will work directly with the latest developments in eSIM and emerging connectivity standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, validate, and maintain electrical and logical profiles for SIM and eSIM products

• Develop and implement Java Card applets for SIM/eSIM services, ensuring compliance with 3GPP, ETSI, and GSMA standards

• Create and update technical documentation (e.g., applet specifications, test plans)

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams spanning mobile core networks, security, and device vendors

• Support the development, testing, and integration of SIM-based applications and tools

• Utilize smart card test and trace tools to ensure quality and performance

• Participate in technical reviews, troubleshooting, and team meetings

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline

• 3+ years of relevant experience in telecoms technology, connectivity, or related sectors

• Proven experience with SIM/eSIM technologies and protocols (APDU, ISO 7816)

• Knowledge of 3GPP, ETSI, and GSMA standards

• Experience with Java, Java Card, or scripting languages

• Familiarity with mobile network elements and smart card technologies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; quality-focused and self-motivated

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

• Experience with Git, Postman, or smart card test tools (e.g., Comprion)

• Exposure to Kanban/Agile methodologies

New hires at Cubic³ are required to work onsite five days a week during their six-month probation period to get to know the company, their team, and our ways of working. After probation, we offer a flexible arrangement of up to eight work-from-home days per month, provided it aligns with business needs and performance standards. This arrangement is not a given for all roles.
