Job summary

Fox Bros. Engineering Limited, Ballycanew, Gorey, Co. Wexford, seeks a Sheet Metal Worker with at least 3 years of experience.

You will fabricate roofs, ducts, gutters and other metal components from sheet metal, reading plans to determine material needs and applying welding or riveting as required. The role requires safety consciousness, ability to work at heights, and adherence to health & safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ sheet metal working experience required.
• No minimum academic requirements.
• Welding certification preferred but not essential.
• Must read blueprints and plans.
• Must work safely at heights and follow health & safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Use sheet metal to construct roofs, ducts for HVAC, gutters and other metal structures.
• Read plans and determine type and amount of materials.
• Measure, bend, cut, shape and join sheet metal to create structures.
• Use thin metal sheets to fabricate, install, and maintain products and systems.
• Follow blueprints and drawings to measure, cut, shape, and join metal sheets via welding, soldering or riveting.

Job Description

• Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years’ sheet metal working experience in a previous role is required.
• There are no minimum academic requirements.
• Welding certification is preferred but is not essential.
• General Duties / Responsibilities / Experience:
• To use sheet metal to construct roofs, ducts for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, gutters and other metal structures
• To read plans and determine the type and amount of materials to be used
• To measure, bend, cut, shape and attach pieces of sheet metal to create the required structure
• To use thin metal sheets to fabricate, install, and maintain various products and system
• To use blueprints and technical drawings to measure, cut, shape, and join metal sheets using methods like welding, soldering, or riveting
• To contribute to projects such as ductwork, roofing, siding, and other sheet metal components
• To follow safety protocols while working with heavy metal sheets and using tools and equipment
• Essential knowledge includes metal joining technologies, metal thermal conductivity, rivet types and metal types
• Essential skills include aligning components, applying arc welding techniques, and applying spot welding techniques
• Further essential skills include clipping sheet metal objects together, operation of handheld riveting equipment, interpretation of 2D & 3D plans, and tending metal sawing machine
• Candidates must be competent to apply construction health & safety procedures, inspect construction supplies and follow health & safety while working at heights
• Candidates must have experience in using metalworking tools, using sheet metal sheers, and recognising signs of corrosion
• Candidates must have 3 years’ of relevant experience as a Sheet Metal Worker in a previous role
• Welding certification preferred but not required
• Annual Remuneration: €36,605.00;
• Pay rate €18.05 per hour
