Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Ireland seeks a Senior/Principal Engineer to lead coastal, river and water quality modelling projects. You will act as technical manager, provide expert advisory to water companies and regulators, and mentor junior staff.

The role emphasizes technical excellence, robust model build, validation, and delivery of complex regulatory projects under WFD and Bathing Water Directive frameworks. Hybrid/remote working options available within our global engineering team.

Qualifications

PhD in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Professional memberships: MCIWEM and C.WEM.
Chartered Water and Environmental Manager status desirable.
Experience delivering and leading complex modelling projects.
Strong track record in technical leadership and project delivery.
Experience with MIKE modelling for coastal/estuarine environments.

Responsibilities

Provide senior technical leadership on coastal, river and water quality modelling projects.
Lead WQ modelling and verification, including MIKE 21 and related tools.
Mentor junior and mid-level staff and review technical work.
Engage with water companies and regulators, including WFD and Bathing Water Directive.
Support regulator liaison and contribute to innovation in modelling approaches.
