Job summary

AECOM's Technology Services team is seeking a Senior Technology Consultant to deliver Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), Smart Cities and Mobility projects for clients in the UK and internationally.

You'll lead technical advisory, design and delivery across transportation sectors, working with national transport authorities, local authorities and contractors, with a flexible hybrid working model and opportunities to shape future mobility strategies.

Qualifications

• BEng in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Maths or Physics.
• Experience in Smart Cities, ITS, CAV, MaaS and related mobility tech.
• Knowledge of ITS and technologies contributing to modern transportation.
• Knowledge of transport technology market demands, trends and challenges.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, feasibility studies and direct client engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist consultancy and design services for ITS, Smart Cities, Mobility and C-ITS projects.
• Lead research, data analysis and recommendations for clients and technologies.
• Capture client, stakeholder and system requirements; develop systems architecture and reports.
• Review emerging technologies and assess their applicability to client needs.
• Undertake feasibility and detailed design tasks; ensure deliverables meet client briefs and QA procedures.

Our Technology Services team are looking for a Senior Technology Consultant to help deliver Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), Smart Cities, Mobility and all forms of technology-led transport projects to clients across the UK and internationally.

The team provides services to a diverse client base, from strategic advisory services through to technical research, design and delivery related engineering services. The Technology Services team works closely with clients and partners, largely in the Transportation Sector, although this role will also support other sectors due to its specialist nature.

Our Clients are many and varied and span National Transport Authorities, Combined Authorities, Local Authorities and Contractors as well as the private sector and internal UK and International AECOM businesses.

Recent and Current Projects Include:

• Innovative transport technology projects, including Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV), Cooperative ITS (C-ITS), Mobility as a Service (MaaS), and the planning, design and implementation of Smart Motorways schemes and performance assessments.
• Supporting the development and delivery of next-generation mobility solutions, including connected vehicle testbeds and autonomous vehicle trials.
• Developing ITS strategies, action plans, and transformational programmes for transport authorities and national road operators.
• Planning, designing, and implementing Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), control centres, telecommunications networks, speed enforcement systems, and traffic management solutions.
• Contributing to sustainable transport initiatives, including EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy projects, and depot decarbonisation.

The team provides technical leadership of projects throughout the project lifecycle from feasibility, preliminary and detailed design stages through to performance monitoring and assessment.

Here’s a broad sample of what you’ll do as a Senior Consultant:

• Provide specialist technical consultancy and design services for the development of projects and bids and subsequent delivery of technical work across Intelligent Transport Systems, Smart Cities, Mobility solutions, C-ITS.
• Have awareness of new developments, technologies and skills helping you and AECOM push the boundaries of mobility through the next generation ITS, CAV and smart cities and acting as a technology scout exploring emerging opportunities within the Technology Services team.
• Lead research, data analysis and proposing recommendations relative to the client, technology and the future.
• Capture client, stakeholder, system and user requirements - developing systems and services, system architecture, design documentation and technical reports.
• Review current and emerging technologies with a view to deploying them to solve real world problems for clients.
• Undertake problem analysis and prepare solution options.Undertake feasibility and detailed design tasks.
• Check that the quality of technical deliverables is in line with the client’s brief and AECOM’s quality procedures.
