Job summary

European Tech Recruit in Cork, Ireland, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to drive DSP and sensor algorithm development for low-power embedded devices across the full product lifecycle.

Responsibilities include end-to-end systems design, validating DSP performance in MATLAB/Python, and implementing embedded software in C/C++ with attention to power, memory and complexity. Mentoring junior engineers and presenting results to leadership.

The role is based in Cork with a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Experience in algorithm development and systems engineering for embedded devices.
• Strong DSP knowledge including filter design and LTI systems.
• Edge AI optimization for low-power devices (floating-to-fixed point).
• Proficient in embedded C/C++.
• Knowledge of MEMS/inertial sensors is desirable.

Senior Systems Engineer - DSP/ Sensor Algorithms

We are partnered with a global leader in semiconductors and wireless technology whose Sensors Technologies group is developing leading-edge sensor-based technologies for smartphones, automotive, IoT, and AR/VR. The team are looking to bring on an experienced Senior System Engineer to work across the entire product life cycle, focusing on developing and optimizing Digital Signal Processing algorithms for low-power, embedded devices.

This is a permanent working opportunity based in Cork, Ireland.

Key responsibilities for this Senior Systems Engineer position:

• Lead systems projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering to systems design and software implementation.
• Develop sensor algorithms in high-level languages (MATLAB, Python) and perform rigorous performance validation.
• Make effective engineering tradeoffs regarding performance, memory, power consumption, and computational complexity.
• Implement embedded software in C/C++ for fixed and floating-point based designs.
• Apply expertise in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and sensor technologies to drive innovation.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and communicate complex results to product management and leadership.

Key requirements:

• Experience in algorithm development and systems engineering for embedded devices.
• Strong understanding of basic and advanced concepts of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) (e.g., filter design, LTI systems).
• Experience optimizing DSP operations for edge AI, including floating-to-fixed point implementation and optimizing bitwidths for low-power devices.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
• Embedded programming proficiency in C/C++.
• Knowledge of basic Machine Learning concepts (supervised/unsupervised learning, classification, Neural Networks).
• Knowledge of MEMS and inertial sensors is highly desirable.
