Job summary

European Tech Recruit is partnering with a global leader in semiconductors to fill a Senior Systems Engineer role in Cork, Ireland. The position focuses on developing and optimizing DSP algorithms for embedded sensors across the product lifecycle.

You will work on end-to-end systems design, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with product management to translate requirements into robust sensor software.

Qualifications

• Experience in algorithm development and systems engineering for embedded devices.
• Strong DSP knowledge: filters and LTI systems.
• Experience with edge AI and fixed/ floating-point optimization.
• Strong analytical skills in linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded software.
• Knowledge of MEMS/inertial sensors is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems projects end-to-end from requirements gathering to design and implementation.
• Develop sensor algorithms in MATLAB and Python and validate performance.
• Optimize DSP operations for edge devices with low power considerations.
• Implement embedded software in C/C++ for fixed and floating-point designs.

Senior Systems Engineer - DSP/ Sensor Algorithms

We are partnered with a global leader in semiconductors and wireless technology whose Sensors Technologies group is developing leading-edge sensor-based technologies for smartphones, automotive, IoT, and AR/VR. The team are looking to bring on an experienced Senior System Engineer to work across the entire product life cycle, focusing on developing and optimizing Digital Signal Processing algorithms for low-power, embedded devices.

This is a permanent working opportunity based in Cork, Ireland.

Key responsibilities for this Senior Systems Engineer position:

• Lead systems projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering to systems design and software implementation.
• Develop sensor algorithms in high-level languages (MATLAB, Python) and perform rigorous performance validation.
• Make effective engineering tradeoffs regarding performance, memory, power consumption, and computational complexity.
• Implement embedded software in C/C++ for fixed and floating-point based designs.
• Apply expertise in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and sensor technologies to drive innovation.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and communicate complex results to product management and leadership.

Key requirements:

• Experience in algorithm development and systems engineering for embedded devices.
• Strong understanding of basic and advanced concepts of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) (e.g., filter design, LTI systems).
• Experience optimizing DSP operations for edge AI, including floating-to-fixed point implementation and optimizing bitwidths for low-power devices.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
• Embedded programming proficiency in C/C++.
• Knowledge of basic Machine Learning concepts (supervised/unsupervised learning, classification, Neural Networks).
• Knowledge of MEMS and inertial sensors is highly desirable.
