Job summary

Punch Consulting Engineers, a COWI company, invites a Senior Structural Precast Engineer to lead precast design for major building projects across Ireland. You will drive technical excellence from concept through construction, directing teams of engineers and technicians and coordinating with architects and clients to achieve successful outcomes.

You will bring an honours degree, chartered status with ICE, and strong experience in Tekla Structures and relevant software, plus a proactive

Qualifications

  • Honours degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
  • Chartered Engineer status with ICE preferred.
  • Experience in precast concrete design, ideally with a precast manufacturer.
  • Proficient in Tekla Structures and other design software (REVIT, AutoCAD, ROBOT, ETABS).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design and engineering of precast concrete elements for buildings.
  • Take technical responsibility from concept to construction, reviewing drawings and calculations.
  • Coordinate engineers, technicians and project teams, managing deliverables and risks.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors and clients, representing the technical team.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to graduates and junior engineers.
  • Act as senior technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
  • Attend design meetings and provide precast engineering advice.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety and consultancy procedures.

Towork within our Building division in either Limerick, Dublin or Cork, we are looking for a Senior Structural Precast Engineer to join us. Working on the delivery of major structural projects involving precast concrete design and detailing, you’ll be responsible for the technical, managerial and commercial success of our projects.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead the structural design and engineering of precast concrete elements and systems for building projects in accordance with relevant Eurocodes.
  • Take technical responsibility for allocated projects from concept design through to detailed design and construction, including reviewing and approving drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate structural engineers, technicians, and other project team members, managing deliverables, resources, programmes, technical risks, and overall quality.
  • Work collaboratively with architects, contractors, contractors’ designers, clients, and other engineering disciplines and representing the technical team at design meetings.
  • Provide technical leadership through reviewing the work of engineers and technicians, mentoring graduate and junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with relevant technical, quality, health and safety, and consultancy procedures.
  • Act as a senior technical point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Attend design meetings and provide specialist precast engineering advice to clients and project teams.
  • Ensure all work complies with the consultancy's quality management and health and safety procedures.

On top of that, you'll have:

  • Honours degree in Civil /Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status with the ICE
  • Experience in the design of precast concrete elements, ideally with a precast concrete manufacturer.
  • Experienced in the use of Tekla Structures.
  • Significant IT skills including Teckla Structural Designer, REVIT, AutoCAD and structural design software such as ROBOT, ETABS, SCIA, STRP, TEDDS etc
  • Leadership skills to plan, manage and direct members of the team.
  • Strong communication skills in English both oral and written.
  • Commitment to CPD and competence.
