AMD in Dublin or Cork is seeking a Senior Staff Physical Design Engineer with deep microprocessor design experience. You will lead a physical design team, drive power, performance and area tradeoffs, and collaborate across CPU cores and design teams to solve complex design challenges.

The role emphasizes mentoring, strong communication, and the use of advanced design tools, with opportunities to explore AI-assisted productivity within the team.

SENIOR STAFF PHYSICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

• Location: Dublin or Cork

The Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Physical DesignEngineerwithexpertisein Microprocessor Design and Design Techniques. You are meticulous about Power, Performance and Area while balancing the business needs. This senior role will stretch you as you lead the physical design team to help createnew designfor AMD.

The Person:

• You have excellent communication and presentation skills,demonstratedthrough technical publications, presentations, trainings, executive briefings, etc.
• You are highly adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and engineers alike, ready to mentor and guide, and help to elevate the knowledge and skills of the team around you.
• You are experienced in leading teams of senior engineers

Key Responsibilities:

• Primary technical contact for your focus area
• Pro-actively works with peers in technology and design reviews
• Quantify impacts of technology issues in design reviews
• Work cross functionally across CPU Cores team toidentifyand assess complex technical issues/risks, and develop solutions
• Work closely with Design teams for Area and Floorplan refinement, Timing targets, Power targets.
• Use AI to enhance your own productivityandcontributeinthe building of Agentic AI tools to improve productivity of the larger team.

Preferred Experience:

• Experiencetechnically leadingjunior engineers.
• Experienced in high-speed microprocessor designs
• Full-Chip Floorplanning
• Full-Chip Timing
• DRC/LVS at partition and/or Full-Chip Level
• Ability to createnew designideas and flow
• Knowledge of current sub-micro technologies
• Solid understanding Physical Design tools and flows or custom circuit design

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Electrical Engineering Degree with 5+ years of experience preferred
