Job description

Medforce Recruitment are seeking a dedicated Senior Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join the dynamic multidisciplinary team at an acute hospital based in Waterford. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior role in an acute hospital setting, supporting adults with a range of complex communication and swallowing needs.

As a Senior SLT, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, providing leadership within the SLT team, and contributing to service development across the hospital.

Responsibilities of the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Deliver a quality Speech and Language Therapy service to adult patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties in an acute hospital setting.
  • Complete assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for inpatients.
  • Provide specialist input into the management of dysphagia/feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing disorders.
  • Work closely as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated care.
  • Provide supervision and support to staff grade therapists and students.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements for the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:

  • A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • CORU registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years in the area of dysphagia/acute care.
  • Certification and competence in the management of dysphagia.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • A professional, patient-focused approach to work.
