Job description

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join their expanding acute service. This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialised SLT assessment and intervention for adult inpatients and outpatients across a range of clinical presentations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients with communication and swallowing difficulties, often within complex and high-acuity presentations, and will be a valued member of our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Provide advanced clinical assessment and management of adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders.
  • Support service delivery across acute wards including stroke, respiratory, medical, surgical, and critical care.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of evidence-based SLT practices.
  • Supervise and support staff grade therapists and students.
  • Work closely with MDT colleagues to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Participate in service evaluation, audits, and ongoing quality improvement.

Essential Criteria for the Senior Speech and Language Therapist:

  • A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Current registration with CORU.
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification clinical experience, with at least 2 years in adult services.
  • Proven clinical expertise in dysphagia and communication management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Completion of relevant postgraduate training (e.g. FEES, Videofluoroscopy, NPT, LSVT).
  • Experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Ability to lead and contribute to service development initiatives.
