Job summary

nineDots.io in Ireland is hiring backend engineers to build the infrastructure behind modern software. You will work on a platform that securely manages, governs and distributes software packages, containers and dependencies throughout organisations.

You will join a capable engineering team, tackle difficult engineering problems, and take ownership beyond the code you write, shaping a category-defining product at the crossroads of cloud infrastructure and software delivery.

Job description

Most backend roles are about building another feature into an established product. This one is about helping build the infrastructure that modern software depends on.

You can create the platform companies use to securely manage, govern and distribute the software packages, containers and dependencies flowing through their organisation.

It sits directly in the path between developers writing code and that software reaching production.

That creates some genuinely difficult engineering problems:

• Designing distributed systems that remain reliable under serious scale


• Moving and serving huge volumes of software artifacts globally


• Building secure, multi-tenant backend platforms


• Improving performance, resilience and observability across complex systems


• Making sensible architectural decisions where there is no obvious playbook


• Balancing engineering quality, customer impact and the realities of a fast-growing product

They are looking for strong backend engineers rather than one rigid profile.

You might come from platform engineering, developer tooling, cloud infrastructure, security products, databases, distributed systems or high-scale SaaS.

The important part is that you enjoy understanding how systems really work, debugging difficult problems and taking ownership beyond the code you personally write.

You will join a highly capable engineering team, work on problems with real technical depth and have meaningful influence over how the platform evolves.

This is not a maintenance role, and you will not be buried under layers of process.
