Job summary

Bretland on-site role in Offaly seeks an experienced site engineer to oversee engineering activities, ensure works align with programme and quality standards, and mentor junior staff.

You will lead setting out, surveying, and QA, interpret design docs, manage RFIs, and coordinate with design teams and subcontractors while focusing on peat stability, drainage, and environmental controls.

Qualifications

• Engineering or construction qualification.
• 3-5+ years' experience in a similar engineering role.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, surveying, and building technology.
• Ability to manage and develop junior engineers and contribute to team success.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities with proven experience meeting deadlines.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, MS Project, and digital construction tools.
• Procore experience desirable.
• Based in Offaly.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all engineering activities on site to ensure works are delivered to programme and quality standards.
• Lead setting out, surveying, and quality assurance processes, ensuring accurate execution of works.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and building regulations.
• Check and interpret all design documentation and ensure any errors or omissions are communicated to the design team promptly.
• Prepare, review, and manage RFI's, method statements, inspection requests, and technical submissions.
• Coordinate timely flow of information between design team, subcontractors, and site management.
• Monitor workmanship and materials, identifying quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Assist the Project Manager in establishing and maintaining the construction programme.
• Manage temporary works requirements and ensure compliance with approved designs.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and site staff, promoting professional development.
• Contribute to cost management by ensuring efficient resource use and identifying potential value engineering opportunities.
• Ensure full compliance with company health & safety procedures and statutory regulations.
• Prepare accurate site records including daily reports, as-built information, quality checklists, and progress updates.
• Assisting with environmental compliance measures.
• Understanding of peat stability and ground conditions.
• Monitoring settlement and drainage measures.
• Implementing environmental controls to prevent peat slippage and contamination.
