Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality radiographic imaging examinations across X-ray, theatre, interventional/fluoroscopy.
  • Take part in on-call rotas and adapt shift patterns.
  • Ensure local and national radiation protection rules are applied at all times.
  • Lead orientation, clinical tutoring, competency assessments for students and junior colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and operational documentation (patient records, logbooks, QA records).
  • Assist in evaluating, logging, and reporting imaging equipment faults with follow-up monitoring.

Job Description Senior Radiographer (Specific Purpose 21 hours per week)

Job Purpose: To deliver a high-quality, patient-focused diagnostic examinations as requested while always ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities and Experience Undertake high-quality radiographic imaging examinations across core departmental modalities, including X-ray, Theatre, Interventional/Fluoroscopy, and specialised areas such as CT, MRI, and the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory. Demonstrate flexibility regarding shift patterns and actively participate in the departmental on-call rotas. Ensure local and national radiation protection rules are applied at all times. Maintain compliance with all relevant radiation legislation (including S.I. No. 256 of 2018 and S.I. No. 30 of 2019) alongside JCI, HIQA, and EPA standards. Lead orientation, clinical tutoring, competency assessments, and training for students and junior colleagues. Assist in evaluating, logging, and reporting imaging equipment faults, ensuring subsequent monitoring is accurately recorded. Maintain accurate clinical and operational documentation (patient records, logbooks, and QA records) in compliance with data protection legislation.

Essential Qualifications, Registration & Experience
  • BSc (Hons) in Radiography, Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or equivalent.
  • Current registration with the Radiographers Registration Board of CORU (and maintenance of same).
  • Minimum of 3 years post-graduate clinical experience.
  • A post-graduate qualification in a relevant modality is highly desirable.
