Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Software Engineer (Python) for Programmable Networking in Ireland. This senior role blends software development with production networking to provision and manage real network resources globally.

You will work with asynchronous Python, network orchestration, routing automation, cloud interconnects, and infrastructure control planes, owning API design through deployment, observability, and operations.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience building and operating production software, especially customer-facing APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong production experience with Python, including asynchronous programming (asyncio, aiohttp).
• Hands-on networking knowledge (BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, VRFs, GRE, WireGuard) and Linux networking.
• Experience automating network fleets using Ansible and SSH-based tooling.
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge including schema design and live migrations.
• Ability to diagnose complex production incidents across hardware, OS, applications and networks.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve customer-facing REST APIs for private networks and related endpoints.
• Develop the network orchestration control plane and asynchronous Python services.
• Automate network infrastructure with Ansible and SSH-based tooling.
• Integrate with cloud providers to provision network interconnects across AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Contribute to Go-based Envoy xDS control-plane services and edge data plane config.
• Own production reliability including monitoring, incident response and billing sync.
• Drive architectural quality with testing, static analysis and safe deployment practices.
