Datalec Precision Installations (DPI) is a leading provider of data centre design, supply, build, and managed services. We are committed to delivering seamless and integrated solutions for data centre operators worldwide. Our team is dedicated to maintaining high standards of service and excellence in every project we undertake.

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the team. This role manages the full life cycle of the project, opportunities, delivery, compliance and customer escalations. Control the overall design and operational delivery of projects, considering the safety, technical, commercial, and managerial requirements, from bid and pre-commencement through to successful practical completion. Ensuring that profitability is maintained or improved through effective leadership, high-quality customer relations and management of relevant support functions allocated to the project.

Duties & Responsibilities

Demonstrate strong Health and Safety leadership and compliance throughout all activities relating to the project on which you are working. To ensure that safe systems of work are always employed on site to achieve zero accidents or lost time incidents, reporting any accidents or incidents that occur.

Overall supervision of installation teams and project managers to ensure the safe completion of the project within agreed time scales and budgets that exceed statutory regulations and standards to meet specification and customer requirements.

Ensure all projects are delivered in adherence with all ISO requirements and business systems. To be proactive in ensuring that the work being carried out is to the highest standard in every aspect, delivered defect-free, and on time.

Ensure site rules are observed by all who are working for and on behalf of DPI staff and sub-contractors, and any other 3rd party suppliers of products, goods, logistics and services.

To oversee the production & updating of Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) as required, and ensure RAMS and safe working requirements are adhered to.

Conduct site surveys, ensure compliance with project design and compile material list for production.

Working with the senior team provides ownership of client relations and participation in bid activities supporting sales as well as the bid proposal team.

Review and measure project and team performance in line with project and team KPI’s, managing performance and delivering on objectives.

To ensure that professional, profitable, and successful bids are delivered, meeting customer expectations.

Manage pre-commencement activities in line with the business project delivery process. To maximise opportunities, efficiency, and profitability in the delivery phase of the project

Supply chain engagement, maintaining relations and understanding escalation structure and processes to overcome barriers to resolve disputes or issues.

Proactively engage with the commercial tea,m ensuring Sub-contractor contracts and performancareis implemented. Management/contracts management across the full operations.

Responsibfor to proactivengaginggage with the commercial team to identify and manage project risks, opportunities and CVR reports.

Lead the teams to effectively manage the appointed specialist Sub-Contractors and ensure the work is being carried out safely, to the specification and programme. Develop effective, sustainable relationships with key subcontractor organisations.

Provide leadership for the project management delivery teams within the area of control, through clear provision of objectives, responsibilities, and accountabilities, managing performance accordingly. Offer guidance and feedback to maximise the performance of the teams.

Provision / Manage teams to provide Customer Progress / general Reporting in a timely and regular manner, using correct reporting management tools and templates. Ensure the level of information provided is sufficient to manage expectations and considers the sensitivity of business to end-to-end client relations to avoid any detrimental effect.

Contribute towards DPI strategy and goals, supporting the senior management team to implement policies and procedures and providing clear, timely communications on project plans.

Prepares for and carries out employee performance reviews with direct reports following the company process.

Maintains/develops skills and team performance to deliver required outcomes. Identifies potential within the team and provides mentoring/coaching to team members to support development plans and career progression.

Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.

Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Experience

Degree in a relevant engineering field (Electrical, Mechanical or similar).

Preferably a Chartered Electrical Engineer (IET or equivalent).

Understanding of IS 10101:2020 National Rules for Electrical Installations.

PMP certified or equivalent, along with a minimum of 10 years of proven experience in a similar role.

Strong knowledge of LV and HV distribution systems.

Demonstrate deep expertise in electrical and mechanical systems to oversee complex infrastructure installations, ensuring compliance with international standards and project specifications.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and BIM models.

Strong project leadership managing multidisciplinary MEP teams, contractors and consultants.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise the design and execution of electrical and mechanical components, enhancing overall project efficiency and reliability.

Demonstrable experience within the data centre industry, ideally within both white and grey space and connectivity biased.

Strong commercial acumen and understanding of business financial principles, including profit and loss and costings.

Strong stakeholder management and the ability to build and maintain excellent client/customer relations.

Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure, managing and driving schedules.

Sector and industry knowledge within the Data Centre and associated services environment.

Solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations with demonstrable experience implementing policies and procedures, ideally certified in this field.

Must hold and maintain the necessary accreditations and certifications relevant to the level of this role, sector and industry.

Lead a monitoring programme to enable team members to progress.

IT skills in Word, Excel, Projects and PowerPoint presentations.

Flexibility to travel as required by the business.
