Job summary

FRS Recruitment is seeking a senior Packaging Process Engineer in East Cork to own site packaging operations and drive process optimisation. You will analyse OEE, lead root-cause investigations, and coordinate improvements across packaging formats, materials, and equipment while collaborating with Operations, Maintenance and Quality teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
• Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food, beverage or packaging environments.
• Proven experience with automated packaging equipment and packaging line operations.
• Strong understanding of process optimisation and continuous improvement.
• Experience analysing OEE, downtime, waste and production performance data.
• Experience leading process improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
• Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma advantageous.
• PLC systems and industrial automation knowledge beneficial.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, results-driven approach with strong organisational and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Act as process owner for site packaging operations and selected production processes.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for packaging equipment and production processes.
• Analyse OEE, downtime, waste, quality and throughput to identify improvement opportunities.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective and preventative solutions.
• Lead continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives.
• Drive improvements in line performance, changeover efficiency and equipment reliability.
• Establish and maintain effective process control standards.
• Support the introduction, qualification and validation of new packaging formats, materials and equipment.
• Lead and support cost reduction, quality, reliability and debottlenecking projects.
• Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality and HSE.
• Work with suppliers to resolve packaging material and equipment performance issues.
• Provide technical oversight for selected production processes and support change management activities.

Our client, a well-established industrial operation based in East Cork, is seeking an experienced Packaging Process Engineer to join their team. This is a senior engineering role focused on packaging, process optimisation and continuous improvement, with responsibility for providing technical leadership and driving improvements across safety, quality, reliability, efficiency and production performance. The Role Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will take ownership of packaging processes and selected production operations, providing technical expertise and driving continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For
