Job summary
WSP is seeking a Senior Overhead Line Engineer to lead the design and delivery of transmission projects across Ireland. You will work from Ireland-based offices, providing technical leadership on schemes from 11kV to 400kV and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable overhead line solutions.
You will bring a degree in electrical/other engineering and demonstrable experience with HTLS and line optimisation, plus a willingness to travel.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Power Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in design and delivery of overhead transmission line projects up to 400kV.
- Knowledge of overhead line design principles, HTLS conductor technologies and line performance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support overhead line engineering and design activities across projects from 11kV to 400kV.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring within multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, specifications and engineering proposals.
- Undertake overhead line design activities including route development, structure spotting, clearance assessments and line optimisation studies.
- Carry out sag-tension calculations and other technical analyses for overhead line design.
- Support feasibility studies and option assessments for technically preferred solutions.
- Provide technical input during stakeholder engagement, planning processes and public consultation.
- Review engineering deliverables for compliance with standards and client requirements.
- Support project delivery through design reviews and quality management.
- Contribute to innovative engineering solutions to improve performance and constructability.
- Contribute to technical excellence initiatives and industry forums.
