Job summary

Amazon Web Services is hiring a Database Engineer III for the RDS Oracle team in Ireland. You will act as an Oracle database expert, lead complex investigations, and shape the future of our managed database service.

You will own database architecture for Oracle on RDS, drive design reviews, mentor engineers, and lead multi-engineer projects with minimal direction to deliver scalable solutions that prevent issues and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field with five years of relevant experience.
• Designing, architecting, and leading scalable database automation solutions.
• Mentoring software and database engineers on internals and best practices.
• Leading automation frameworks for benchmarking and performance validation.
• Proficient in PL/SQL and Java, with coding standards and patterns.

Responsibilities

• Own Oracle on RDS architecture, setting standards and best practices.
• Lead design reviews and implement features at scale across teams.
• Mentor junior DBEs/SDEs and drive cross-team initiatives.
• Handle on-call duties, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Build monitoring, testing, and prevention strategies for reliability.
