Job summary

RecruitNet International Ltd. is assisting a Dublin-based hospital in recruiting an Assistant Director of Nursing (Mental Health). The role offers a permanent, full-time contract with a rostered 78 hours per fortnight and occasional on-call or night-duty cover.

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, ensure high-quality mental health care, and drive governance, safety, and regulatory compliance across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with current registration on the NMBI.
• Minimum seven years post-registration nursing experience, including at least three years in adult mental health services.
• Experience in acute mental health care environments and care of older persons in Ireland.
• Extensive experience in staff management, budgetary control, and workforce planning.
• Strong knowledge of Mental Health Commission requirements, governance frameworks, and CPD.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director of Nursing in achieving the organisation’s strategic objectives and ensuring effective day-to-day hospital operations.
• Provide clinical leadership and oversight to deliver high‑quality, safe, person‑centred mental health care.
• Lead and support clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Mental Health Commission requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Promote care that respects the dignity, autonomy, and rights of residents and service users.
• Provide leadership, supervision and support to nursing staff, fostering professional development and a positive clinical culture.
• Inspire and influence teams to achieve high standards of care, performance and accountability.
• Contribute strategically to service development, operational planning and change management.
