Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Senior Electronics R&D Engineer in Ireland to support prototype hardware development, lab testing, and equipment maintenance within the Physiological Sensing R&D team. You will assemble and rework PCBAs, build wire harnesses, run tests, and assist with hardware bring-up under engineering direction.

The role emphasizes precision soldering, debugging, and maintaining laboratory and production equipment, with a focus on CE-marked processes and 6S/ESD controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience with fine-pitch SMD and through-hole PCBAs, soldering and rework.
• Experience building wire assemblies, cables, connectors, and test fixtures.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, PCB drawings, and BOMs.
• Practical experience with lab equipment, prototype bring-up, and hardware testing.
• Electro-mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of lab/production equipment.
• Knowledge of ESD controls, 6S, and traceable documentation.
• Experience with CE-marked equipment compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and rework prototype PCBAs with small components and高手 packages.
• Perform precision soldering, component replacement, and PCBA repair using microscopes and tools.
• Build and modify wire assemblies, cables, connectors, and interface boards.
• Prepare prototypes for testing and support hardware bring-up and debugging.
• Set up laboratory equipment and perform electrical characterization.
• Record measurements accurately and communicate findings to engineers.
• Maintain test systems, fixtures, and related equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of lab/production equipment.
• Support automated testing using Python or LabVIEW and data reporting.
• Coordinate calibration and maintenance, ensuring tools are in tolerance.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production to diagnose faults and implement fixes.
• Maintain 6S, ESD controls, and safe work practices.
