Job summary

Wallace Myers International in Galway is seeking an experienced Senior R&D Design Engineer to lead medical device product development projects, translating customer and user requirements into innovative, manufacturable mechanical design solutions.

The role spans concept development, design verification and transfer to production, with close collaboration across engineering, quality, manufacturing and project teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of medical device product development experience.
• Experience with Class III devices preferred.
• Strong hands-on mechanical design with SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485, GMP, QSR and design controls.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple product development projects from requirements to production transfer.
• Develop user-focused mechanical designs in SolidWorks, including 3D CAD and drawings.
• Lead prototyping, engineering builds, pilot production trials, and design troubleshooting.
• Prepare design inputs/outputs, test methods and verification protocols.
• Perform design risk assessment and risk management per ISO 14971.
• Analyse test data and support test method development and validation.
• Collaborate on product validation, usability testing and design reviews.
• Support project planning, costings, proposals and customer presentations.
