Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment in Galway is seeking a Design Engineer to join its design and development team. You will report to the Principal Product Development Engineer or Design & Development Director and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on internal and client-led projects.

The role covers from concept and feasibility through to design, testing, manufacturing and production release, with responsibilities spanning prototyping, verification, and documentation to ensure robust product

Qualifications

• Requires Level 8 degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience in medical devices or highly regulated industries is advantageous.
• Strong SolidWorks experience for 3D modelling, complex assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of product development, prototyping, testing and design verification processes.
• Understanding of tolerance development, process capability and engineering analysis.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Work within multidisciplinary project teams across multiple concurrent projects.
• Collaborate with user-centred design, manufacturing and other internal functions.
• Support concept development, feasibility studies, design activities and verification and validation testing.
• Develop mechanical design solutions throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Create 3D CAD models and complex assemblies using SolidWorks, including surface modelling where required.
• Produce detailed 2D engineering drawings and associated design documentation.
• Define customer requirements and translate them into product development specifications.
• Progress projects with internal and external technical specialists to completion.
• Manage prototyping, concept testing and initial engineering builds.
• Develop product specifications, test methods, design verification protocols and test reports.
• Investigate and resolve design, testing and manufacturing issues using engineering principles and simulations.
• Complete process development activities, including tolerance analysis and development for robust product performance.
• Communicate concepts effectively using Adobe Creative Suite tools.
