Job summary

BD in Limerick is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Pharmacy Automation. The role focuses on technical design, development and testing of robotic systems, with cross-functional collaboration across Systems, Electrical and Controls teams to optimize performance and manufacturability.

The candidate will prototype ideas, validate designs via simulations and testing, and mentor junior engineers while adhering to ISO and DFSS/RCA methodologies to deliver reliable automation solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Eng in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in industrial automation and/or robotic system design.
  • Technical execution in a cross-functional team on large development projects.
  • Mechanical CAD tools experience (SolidWorks), FEA, material selection, sheet metal design, tooling and qualification; GD&T and rapid prototyping.
  • Technical drawings to ISO GPS standards; data acquisition, analysis and DFSS/RCA.
  • Strong communication, influence without authority, and mathematical capability for statics and reliability.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, IEC 61010, CE marking; risk assessment using dFMEA and hazard analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Technical design, development, and testing of complex mechanical projects within Pharmacy Automation’s Robotic Product Portfolio.
  • Ownership of component and assembly design from concept through manufacturing; contribute to system architecture.
  • CAD modeling of electromechanical assemblies to support new designs and improve existing ones.
  • Define product requirements to deliver optimal customer solutions.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Electrical, Controls and other Mechanical Engineers to ensure strong system design and performance.
  • Create and present design summaries for technical reviews with cross-functional representation.
  • Provide technical leadership on multiple projects; assess feasibility and plan resources.
  • Derive Verification and Validation plans for new designs.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers; drive product improvements and CAPA.
  • Spearhead failure investigations with cross-functional teams for field issues.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Pharmacy Automation team, you will utilize your extensive knowledge and experience in Mechanical Engineering to solve novel and complex assignments that require the development of new or improved products, techniques and procedures. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimize performance, manufacturability, and reliability, while driving innovation in mechanical architecture and design methodology. In a fast‑paced development environment, you’ll have the opportunity to prototype new ideas, validate designs through simulation and testing, and contribute to the continuous evolution of our automation solutions.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: The position is responsible for the technical design, development, and associated testing of complex mechanical engineering projects within Pharmacy Automation’s Robotic Product Portfolio Take ownership for component and assembly design from concept through detailed design to manufacturing and contribute to the creation of overall system architecture. Perform CAD modeling of electromechanical assemblies to support the release of new designs and create improvements to existing designs Understand product needs, operational constraints, and help define product requirements to deliver the best possible product for customers Work closely with Systems, Electrical, Controls and other Mechanical Engineers on designs and implementations to ensure a strong overall system design and performance Create and present design summaries for technical reviews with a cross functional representation. Provide technical leadership on multiple projects simultaneously Apply sound engineering principles and techniques to develop solutions using a variety of engineering tools Assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tasks, build a resource plan for completion of these tasks, and track progress Derive Verification and Validation plans for new designs Lead and mentor junior engineers and associates on technical and programmatic related challenges Be innovative - identify product improvement opportunities that continuously improve and differentiate Pharmacy Automation Solutions Spearhead failure investigations with a cross‑functional team for returned hardware, in field failures and CAPA

Qualifications

Qualifications: Bachelor of Eng, in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in industrial automation and/or robotic system design Demonstrate technical execution in a highly focused’ cross‑functional team environment, on a large development project. Experience with mechanical CAD tools, SolidWorks, FEA, material selection, sheet metal design and fabrication, plastic injection molded part design tooling and qualification; tolerance analysis, GD&T (GPS) and rapid prototyping equipment Creation of technical drawings according to ISO GPS standards or equivalent. Experience with data acquisition, analysis, and statistical approaches, such as DFSS and structured RCA (Root Cause Analysis). Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrate ability to successfully influence people and teams at all levels without direct authority. Ability to apply sophisticated mathematical concepts to such tasks as statics, kinetics, strength of materials, reliability testing, analysis of variance, correlation studies and sampling theory, statistical analysis Knowledge of applicable international standards – ISO 13485, IEC 61010, Machinery Regulation, CE marking. Experience with risk assessment and safety analysis, utilizing tools such as dFMEA, hazard risk analyses etc.
