Job summary

RED Engineering Design in Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to be based in Dublin or Cork. You will lead multi-disciplinary project teams, manage client interfaces, and coordinate mechanical and electrical installations for data centres, pharma, healthcare, and cleanroom projects.

You will develop designs, ensure compliance with Irish regulations and BS standards, mentor junior engineers, and strive for zero-carbon outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in engineering or equivalent experience.
• MCIBSE or equivalent senior engineering qualification.
• Chartered status or working towards it.
• Experience in design and specification for several building types.
• Strong knowledge of Irish regulations and BS standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead project running and client-facing design coordination for mechanical/electrical services.
• Develop and specify controls, instruments and operating systems for building services.
• Carry out surveys, tests and dilapidation reports on installations.
• Ensure designs meet requirements and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate engineering services and mentor junior engineers.
• Represent RED in technical meetings with clients and contractors.

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - DUBLIN OR CORK

We now seek an experienced Senior Engineer to be based in our Dublin office. You will have opportunities to delivery European data centres and mission-critical projects, along with other sector experience including process pharmaceutical, healthcare, commercial, labs and/or clean rooms would be desirable.

Role Responsibilities

• Responsible for the running of projects. Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc. (Several building types)
• Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
• Surveys, tests, carries out dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
• Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
• Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client
• Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
• Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
• Leads on the coordination of engineering services
• Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions
• Develop the next tier of Engineers with the company

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• BSc/BEng or degree in appropriate engineering discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience
• MCIBSE plus appropriate experience or equivalent
• Chartered Eng status or working towards it
• Significant experience of specification design for several building types
• Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
• Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc
• Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
• Good understanding of BS standards/ Irish Regulations/Codes
• Ability to prioritise own workloadAbility to work to deadlines
• Managerial skills
• Presentation skills
• Support the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of the RED Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective
• Background in consulting or construction preferred
• Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy
• Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group
