Job summary

Inform3 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in County Limerick. The role combines technical design, project management, customer engagement and manufacturing improvement, taking ownership of projects from enquiry to delivery to ensure robust, commercially viable and high-quality outcomes.

You will review requirements, assess feasibility, develop practical solutions to optimise cost, quality and efficiency, and support junior engineers while contributing to department growth.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Precision or related Engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years’ significant experience in mechanical, manufacturing or project engineering.
  • Experience managing engineering projects and working directly with customers.
  • Competent user of SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods.
  • Good commercial awareness, including materials, labour, machine time, capacity, cost and margin.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, precision profiling, sheet metal processing, machining or similar manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory or team-management experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects from initial enquiry through to production and delivery.
  • Act as the main technical contact for assigned customers, developing strong and effective working relationships.
  • Review customer drawings and specifications, assessing technical and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Create, modify and interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
  • Develop practical, cost-effective and commercially viable manufacturing solutions.
  • Support quotations through material selection, process planning, labour and machine-time estimates.
  • Work closely with production teams to resolve technical issues and improve quality, efficiency and delivery performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machine utilisation, workflow, capacity and overall productivity.
  • Support customer account development by identifying potential new opportunities and engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Take increasing responsibility for people, processes and departmental performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of new manufacturing capabilities.

Job description

Job Title – Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Location – County Limerick

Salary – €55K - €60K (Dependent on Experience)

About the Role:

This is a senior engineering role combining technical design, project management, customer engagement and manufacturing improvement. You will take ownership of engineering projects from initial customer enquiry through to design, quotation, production and final delivery, ensuring solutions are technically robust, commercially viable and delivered to the required quality and timescale.

Working closely with customers, production teams and other internal stakeholders, you will review requirements and drawings, assess manufacturing feasibility and develop practical solutions that optimise cost, quality and efficiency.

You will also play an active role in improving manufacturing processes, machine utilisation and workflow, while supporting the development of junior engineers and contributing to the growth of the department.

Experience Required:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Precision or related Engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years’ significant experience in mechanical, manufacturing or project engineering.
  • Proven experience within a production or project-based manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing engineering projects and working directly with customers.
