Job summary

Biogen is seeking a Sr. Engineer II to join our Athlone, Ireland site. This on-site role provides hands-on leadership for parenteral biologics manufacturing, process development, and technology transfers across clinical and commercial programs.

You will mentor junior staff, analyze complex data trends, and drive improvements on the manufacturing floor with cross-functional teams including Quality and Process Engineering. Strong leadership and real-time problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Extensive experience in manufacturing sciences/technical development for biologics or parenteral drug products.
• Strong technical leadership with hands-on manufacturing operations.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (Tableau, Power BI, Statistica, SIMCA).
• Excellent problem-solving and real-time decision-making.
• Experience leading technology transfer projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on, on-site technical leadership during manufacturing operations and live processing decisions.
• Lead rapid assessments and CAPAs for process and product impacts.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality and Process Engineering to develop SOPs and batch records.
• Perform real-time data review and trending to mitigate risks.
• Lead or support technology transfers from development to manufacturing.
• Own technical components of transfer activities with Process Engineering and QA.
• Identify and lead process optimization initiatives on the shop floor.
• Coordinate technical reports for deviations, CAPAs, and technology transfer optimization.
• Support regulatory interactions with immediate technical input.
