Senior Information Security Manager / CISO-Designate – Information Security & Cyber Security Leadership.
A leading global organisation within the insurance and financial services sector is seeking an experienced Information Security / Cyber Security leader to take ownership of its Information Security, Cyber Security and IT Risk agenda across its Irish operations.
Reporting directly to the Head of IT, this is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced security professional who has the capability and ambition to progress into a CISO-level position.
The successful candidate will play a key role in defining and delivering the organisation's security strategy, strengthening cyber resilience, ensuring effective security governance, managing information security risk and maintaining alignment with regulatory and industry requirements.
You will work closely with senior leadership, technology teams, risk, compliance, audit and global security stakeholders, providing strategic direction while also ensuring the effective delivery of security initiatives and controls.
The role offers significant scope to influence the organisation's security posture and develop the Information Security function within a highly regulated, international environment.
The organisation is open to candidates who may not yet have held the formal CISO title but have demonstrated the leadership, strategic experience and technical understanding required to step into a CISO-level role.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the organisation's Information Security, Cyber Security and IT Risk strategy.
- Establish and maintain a robust security governance framework aligned with business objectives and regulatory obligations.
- Develop, implement and maintain Information Security policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.
- Own and enhance the organisation's Information Security Management System (ISMS), including alignment with ISO 27001 requirements.
- Lead security risk management activities, including identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring and reporting of information security risks.
- Provide strategic guidance on cyber security, technology risk and operational resilience.
- Manage security governance forums, steering committees and senior management reporting.
- Provide clear and effective reporting to senior leadership on security risks, performance, incidents and improvement initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with global security standards while addressing local regulatory and business requirements.
- Oversee third-party and supplier security risk management activities.
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews and security assurance activities.
- Develop and maintain security metrics, KPIs and risk reporting to provide clear visibility of the organisation's security posture.
- Drive security awareness and training programmes and promote a strong information protection culture.
- Partner with business and technology teams to ensure security requirements are embedded into projects, systems and change initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen cyber resilience and continuously improve the organisation's security controls and capabilities.
- Manage security budgets and oversee the delivery of security improvement programmes and initiatives.
- Lead, mentor and develop Information Security team members.
- Build strong relationships with global security teams and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted security advisor to senior management and technology leadership.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Information Security or Cyber Security leader with a strong background in security strategy, governance, risk management and security assurance.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience operating at Senior Information Security Manager, Head of Information Security, Cyber Security Manager, Security Lead, Security Director, Deputy CISO or equivalent level.
- Experience developing and implementing enterprise-wide Information Security and Cyber Security strategies.
- Strong understanding of cyber security principles, governance frameworks, security controls and risk management.
- Strong experience across Information Security governance, policy, risk and compliance.
- Experience with ISO 27001, ISMS and security assurance frameworks.
- Experience working within regulated environments such as insurance, banking, financial services or other highly controlled sectors.
- Strong understanding of third-party and supplier security risk management.
- Knowledge of regulatory expectations and information security compliance requirements.
- Experience developing security metrics, reporting and risk management frameworks for senior stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior executives, business leaders and technical teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex security matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring or developing Information Security / Cyber Security teams.
- A pragmatic, business-focused approach to managing cyber security and information security risk.
- The strategic mindset, leadership capability and ambition to progress into a CISO-level role.
