In the Springhill manufacturing site in Cork, in collaboration with our customers, we are driven to make healthcare better by providing innovative surgical equipment that helps improve patient outcomes daily. As a member of the Site Leadership Team, you will play a strategic role in enabling the company to maintain its outstanding performance levels and support future growth.
The Senior Manager, Engineering will lead and manage all site and engineering activities. The role involves pioneering engineering best practices, ensuring process and manufacturing excellence, leadership, and mentoring. A key responsibility is developing and delivering the medium to long-term engineering strategy for the site, including capacity creation, systems, and technology roadmaps to grow the business and meet customer needs.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Lead high-performing teams, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, lean practices, innovation, process excellence, and problem-solving.
- Develop a detailed engineering competency framework for the Bone & Soft tissue cutting business. Ensure the engineering structure is fit for purpose and implement changes effectively.
- Collaborate technically to maintain manufacturing applications and automation systems, working with global teams to ensure successful system implementation.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex business and technology challenges, requiring analysis and creativity.
- Promote a positive employee environment through open communication, engagement, and development of technical teams, fostering inclusiveness, trust, and teamwork.
- Establish and review engineering objectives, set performance targets, monitor progress, and communicate results through business review processes.
- Support new product integration, ensuring robust and scalable processes through collaboration with development teams, and share manufacturing learnings.
- Develop and execute a medium-long-term engineering strategy, including capacity planning and technology roadmaps. Manage projects to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement by implementing reporting and monitoring systems, optimizing process flow and space utilization.
- Develop a manufacturing group proficient in process improvement and problem-solving using Six Sigma tools.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, finance, compliance, and EHS standards through cross-functional collaboration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or related field.
- At least 6+ years of experience with a proven track record of managing talented teams.
- Experience across multiple areas or sites is advantageous.
- Interest or experience in factory automation, software applications, and systems to support growth.
- Preferred qualification in Lean Manufacturing with proven experience.
- Proven delivery in complex, dynamic environments with a results-oriented approach.
- Strong decision-making, organizational, and initiative skills.
- Leadership experience in developing and implementing strategies, and managing change.
- Business acumen, financial understanding, and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Excellent emotional intelligence and communication skills to influence and coach others.
- Self-motivated with analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams, building trust across organizational levels.
