Elastic seeks a Senior Java Developer to join the Elasticsearch team working on the Inference API. You will maintain the plugin framework and REST API, collaborating across the inference and Kibana teams to deliver AI-enabled features across Elastic Cloud and hosted environments.

The role focuses on API design, concurrency, testing, and integration with external ML providers, with a distributed, flexible work culture across regions.

Formación

• 5+ years of production Java experience.
• Experience contributing to a large Java codebase.
• Experience crafting ergonomic APIs and reasoning through tradeoffs.
• Experience with concurrency, parallelism, and classloaders.

Responsabilidades

• Build and maintain integrations with internal systems and external inference providers, including schema negotiation, streaming (SSE), and error normalization.
• Contribute to inference plugin architecture: task settings, chunking strategies, rate limiting, provider configuration.
• Review open source contributions to ensure compliance with standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation for inference-related incidents.
• Write tests: unit tests (ESTestCase), YAML REST integration tests, rolling-upgrade tests.
