Overview

We are currently working with our client, a well-established and forward-thinking professional services firm based in Waterford to recruit a Senior Manager – VAT. This is a newly created and strategically significant role that offers a rare opportunity to lead and shape the VAT function while also contributing to broader tax initiatives within the business.

This position is ideal for someone coming from a Big 4/Top 10 Firm who wants get a broader exposure while also taking the lead on Indirect Tax Advisory issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of VAT returns to Revenue in accordance with filing deadlines.
  • Build, manage, and grow strong client relationships, acting as a go-to expert on VAT-related matters.
  • Provide hands-on advice and practical guidance to clients facing VAT challenges.
  • Lead VAT audits and manage engagements with Revenue as required.
  • Stay abreast of evolving VAT legislation (both Irish and EU), interpreting changes and communicating business impacts.
  • Support advisory projects including due diligence, intellectual property structuring, and corporate reorganisations.
  • Research and provide technical input on a wide variety of indirect tax issues.
  • Work collaboratively with partners and senior leadership to expand the VAT service offering.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Professional accountancy qualification is preferred (CTA, ACCA, ACA).
  • Excellent knowledge of Irish and European VAT legislation and relevant case law.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey complex tax issues clearly.
  • Structured, detail-oriented approach with excellent time management.
  • Proven experience handling a diverse VAT portfolio and leading client engagements.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
