Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a senior Cloud and Data Center Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize cloud-based and data center network solutions. You will work with cross-functional teams across product, security, and IT operations to deliver secure, scalable infrastructure.

The role emphasizes VMware/OpenStack, automation with Terraform/Ansible, and storage systems; relocation and data migrations are included to ensure minimal disruption.

Qualifications

• A completed Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience deploying, administering virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack, Hyper-V).
• Experience building, operating, tuning, and troubleshooting Linux and Windows Server environments for high availability and performance.
• Experience with enterprise storage systems (NetApp, Dell EMC) including NAS/SAN, volume/LUN management, host mapping, multipathing, data replication, and snapshots.
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, GitOps).
• Experience with IPv4/IPv6 networking and cloud network architecture and automation.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for infrastructure automation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute compute and storage migrations for data center relocation or consolidation projects.

• Build and maintain enterprise storage systems including volume/LUN creation, host mapping, multipathing, and data replication.

Your Impact

• Design, develop, and implement cloud-based and data center network solutions, combining cutting-edge technologies to optimize architecture in line with Cisco's security standards and policies.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and security teams to develop detailed specifications for new cloud-based products, services, and applications, focusing on network security optimization, scalability, and performance.
• Plan and execute compute and storage migration activities for data center relocation or consolidation projects, including assessing environments, creating migration strategies, and mitigating risks.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, OpenStack), performing both live and cold VM migrations and decommissioning with minimal service disruption.
• Build and maintain enterprise storage systems (NAS/SAN), including volume/LUN creation, host mapping, multipathing, and data replication.

Minimum Qualifications

• A completed Degree in Computer Science, or Engineering, combined with 8+ years of experience such as network engineering or data center operations
• Experience in deploying, administering, and operating virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack, Hyper‑V).
• Experience in building, operating, tuning, and troubleshooting Linux and Windows Server environments for high availability and performance.
• Experience in enterprise storage systems (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC) and advanced storage architectures (NAS, SAN), including volume/LUN management, host mapping, multipathing, data replication, and snapshots.
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, GitOps).
• Experience with IPv4/IPv6 networking and experience with cloud network architecture and automation.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for infrastructure automation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in data center operations, including hardware installation, rack management, cabling, power management, and environmental monitoring.
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience in automation and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with Source Code Control Management and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Argo, Harness, etc.).
• Experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience in development of next gen agentic AI ops agents
