Job summary

Cisco's Cloud and Data Center Engineering team in Ireland is seeking an experienced engineer to design, implement, and optimize cloud-based and data center networks. You will collaborate with product managers, security, and IT operations to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 5+ years in network or data center ops.
• Experience deploying/operating virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack, Hyper‑V).
• Experience Linux/Windows Server for high availability and performance.
• Experience with enterprise storage systems (NAS/SAN), including LUN management and replication.
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Ansible, GitOps).
• Experience with IPv4/IPv6 networking and cloud network automation.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell for automation.

Your Impact

Design, develop, and implement cloud-based and data center network solutions, combining cutting‑edge technologies to optimize architecture in line with Cisco's security standards and policies. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and security teams to develop detailed specifications for new cloud‑based products, services, and applications, focusing on network security optimization, scalability, and performance. Plan and execute compute and storage migration activities for data center relocation or consolidation projects, including assessing environments, creating migration strategies, and mitigating risks. Deploy, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, OpenStack), performing both live and cold VM migrations and decommissioning with minimal service disruption. Build and maintain enterprise storage systems (NAS/SAN), including volume/LUN creation, host mapping, multipathing, and data replication.

Minimum Qualifications

• A completed degree in Computer Science, or Engineering, combined with 5 + years of experience such as network engineering or data center operations.
• Experience in deploying, administering, and operating virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack, Hyper‑V).
• Experience in building, operating, tuning, and troubleshooting Linux and Windows Server environments for high availability and performance.
• Experience in enterprise storage systems (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC) and advanced storage architectures (NAS, SAN), including volume/LUN management, host mapping, multipathing, data replication, and snapshots.
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, GitOps).
• Experience with IPv4/IPv6 networking and experience with cloud network architecture and automation.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for infrastructure automation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in data center operations, including hardware installation, rack management, cabling, power management, and environmental monitoring.
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience in automation and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with Source Code Control Management and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Argo, Harness, etc.).
• Experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience in development of next gen agentic AI ops agents
